Shannon’s Maternity Session at Mellon Park was absolutely perfect, albeit bitter cold. Being pregnant in the winter has its benefits:

1. You are your own heater.
2. You can get comfy in big clothes.
3. No summer heat to sweat through.

But when you have a toddler, the cold weather brings its own challenges, especially when taking photos.

As always, my sessions start with the toddler, so we don’t lose their attention before the session is over.

But that was most important this time, as we needed to keep Ben as warm as possible too. Shannon braved the cold without her coat and gloves, as did Bryan, but we knew we wanted to get these images as quickly as we could.

Since they also did a maternity session with Ben, we had a few images in mind we wanted to recreate together.

We started to warm Ben up, no pun intended, with a few images of the family walking and interacting as they normally do, then did one of the hard ones… Daddy kisses belly, Ben kisses Mommy. This is such a fun one to create and always a favorite.

After giving Ben a break we finished with a few poses of just Ben and Mommy as well as Ben and Daddy, then let Ben go back to the car with Grandma and Grandpa.

We moved through Mellon Park to capture some of the beautiful scenes and recreate a few more images from Shannon’s previous maternity session. They brought along another ultrasound image and the same booties we used in Ben’s photos.

During our consultation we planned on doing these poses, but the opposite way so when they hung on the wall together they complimented each other nicely.

Shannon’s baby bump could leave women jealous! Such a perfect little tummy for the new sister planning to arrive soon.

Since it was so cold I found it only fitting to finish off with a few images of Shannon bundled up and keeping warm before we left. I always have such a good time with this family, and of course this time was no different. And I anxiously awaited till I could hold their new little girl myself for her newborn photos!
